2000 years ago the pineal gland was singled out by mystic-scientists as the "seat of the Soul" Rene Descartes, philosopher, mystic and founder of modern mathematics, referred to the pineal gland as the seat of the rational soul. It has been regarded as an organ of perception, "translating perceived information into humors which pass down tubes to influence the workings of the body." according to Descartes. From the modern scientific point of view, the pineal is often referred to as "a regulator of regulators," governing many activities of the hypothalamus and the pituitary. The pineal is a small pinecone-shaped organ located at the very center of the head. It remains bio-chemically active through the life of the individual. The Pineal affects the activities of the adrenal cortex, the thyroid, the thymus, the gonads, the hypothalamus-pituitary system, and apparently the pancreas. The pineal, therefore, qualifies as the "regulator of regulators." The Pineal and the Intuitive Faculty in puberty the degree of calcification, i.e., the amount of sandy material present in the pineal, progresses noticeably with age in our technologically dominated society. By contrast, there is considerably less calcification of the pineal in individuals living in cultures which function more in harmony with the cycles of nature. Pineal Hormones The variety of influences that the pineal gland exerts on the entire glandular system, and hence on the physical sense of well-being which the individual experiences, indicates that this "Gland of glands" must make its influences felt via some hormone or hormones. There are two hormones - melatonin which produces many of the influences know to be mediated by the hypothalamus . . . Also "vasotocin" delays chiuldbirht, indicating that it interferes with the release of the posterior pituitary hormone, oxytocin. Power of the Holy Breath You need to remember the Power of the Holy Breath . . . first it calms our nervous system and start conscious God-breathing. At the same time, this practice of consciously breathing in light and breathing forth love, is, a way to strength not only our nervous system so that it may respond with compassion in the most balanced of ways BUT also brings in the presence of the Angels."Breathe on me, breath of God" Breathe in me breath of God. Every person, every moment of their lives is breathing in God's life, without which they could not continue to live in a physical body; fot it is not only air that you are breathing into your lungs, you are absorbing all the goodness and beauty and harmony which is in God's life. The POWER of the breath of God is that of life, of wisdom and of love. BREATHING in the white light, and in the white light are all the colours made perfect in one. . . Notice the power there is in this breathing-in of life. Breathe in with thankfulness and peace, for then you breathe in the love of God, which is the life of the universe. You love and have your being in this universal life. The holy breath is "harmony". When you try to breathe in the breath of God you are breathing in harmony, healing; for the way you perform this simple act can affect your whole life -- your spiritual unfoldment and your physical, mental and spiritual health. AT THIS MOMENT , relax your mind and body, and breathe deeply, quietly and slowly. As you breathe in, try to imagine that you are breathing in light and life; that you are not only inhaling air, you are filling every particle of your being with God's breath. As you do this you will naturally be freed from the problems that constrict you, because your whole mind will be on God. You will also find relief from the bondage of cares and limitations if you will practice this deep "God-breathing"; it will bring you a sense of peace, poise and control. As you breathe, slowly, rhythmically, calmly, at the same time forgetting the earth, raise your thoughts, your aspiration to the world above, the world of spirit. Breathe in the fragrance of the rose. Breathe in the light of God. Breathe out the love of God. Be still and know God. Peace. . . . peace . . . be still The conscious breath is the link between the etheric and the physical body, and because it affects all the subtle bodies, it brings peace and balance to the nervous system. Using the conscious breath allows you to be attuned to the inner worlds in a more harmonious way. Now draw closer into contact with the angels. You can, if you will, smell the fragrance, the life, the very essence of the earth; and you can penetrate even beyond this to absorb or inhale the essence of the cosmic body. Do you see what this means? Through your physical sense of smell, you may penetrate into the life of God. |
