| Dover Foxcroft was our founded by our towns fathers that came from England that had founded this place which became two towns at one time but connecting to each other by two bridges now which ed is call Shire town which holds the county seat of from this present day. Piscataquis county covers many townships and is the largest county to cover Piscataquis county ..." Dover - Foxcroft was two historical towns at one time today most of the houses that which people live are still here today but most of the buildings like the blethen house is no longer standing that was called the opera house.it was torn down in the late 1980's To replace a Rite aide pharmacy and as the old Pleasant Street school was torn in the late seventies which ed I went there when I was a child. | |
Dover and Foxcroft was two towns in the early mid 1800's but the two towns grew up beside each other, until in 1822 they finally joined to form Maine's only hyphenated township that which remains today as Dover Foxcroft . The History of Dover & Foxcroft was surveyed in 1791 for the Common Wealth for of the sale of eastern lands of the common wealth of Massachusetts. The area was first settled in 1799 and became the town of our founding fathers which ed became The town of Dover officially 1812 and was incorporated in February 29th 1821. As any one knows the history of Maine was still part of Massachuetts for 29 years more, when the territory of Which Dover was Part that was first explored and surveyed by Samuel Western in 1791 for the committee for the sales of Easter Lands of Commonwealth of Massachusetts. | Most names of our town and county's were taken from Native Americans who become part of the land before we came. |

just keep in mind if we all could look back behind us and see the histories of our towns and be there in that time to see what changes occur d and what happen there we all could learn how important things what had happened there. people of the past can still tell you for those who are living and those who are can by going on there stones and reading there epithet I have done it reading stones where I use to mower the places where people are barred...
