Tough times, recession, depression, financial loss, economic crisis, stock market crash...all are phrases or catch cries of the day. These words are bandied around and spewed forth daily, but what does it truly mean for the average battler? Yes ,in Australia battlers,Aussie Battlers, are people who only "just get by" ,those who keep hitting major road blockers, and manage to some how keep going. Keep going emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually.

The term Aussie Battler is an Australiancolloquialism referring to "ordinary" or working class individuals who persevere through their commitments despite adversity.

For the average person or battler, we keep doing what we're doing, we keep working, we keep balancing finances, rob Peter to pay Paul, we slash our expenses where we dare, we make sacrifices...in other words we do what we can to get by.Some of us will will get by, but there are others of us who won't. Those in other countries who have old systems which just do not work, those who do not have a good national health system with accessibility, those who rely on sub serviant social security...those who have no choice, no way out...

To address the hardship experienced by those reliant on social security in Australia, our Government is providing bonus payments. These payments are specifically to assist with financial hardship during this world wide economic crisis. Payments range from $1000 for a single person,$1500 for couples each,$1000 for each child. We also have a carers pension and allowance for those who care for infirmed or dependent loved ones, friends or other...they too will receive $1000..some will receive multiple payments as they fit into many of the entitlement categories.

America needs to do more for those who are hurting, those who are continually sacrificing, the American battlers.
It speaks for itself that the top executive from one of America's top Automakers is more then happy to work for $1 per year...God only knows what his salary was...guess he has a nice nest egg somewhere...

How nice of Ford to pressure the Federal Government for millions to keep them afloat...only to state once the Bailout was declined "We don't need the money anyway"...but hey lets just see if we can get it anyway, never mind that the battlers are once again having to fund a corporate giant.

America needs a national health care system with equality of access and quality care. Nobody should ever have to fight to receive adequate health care ever. Nobody should be denied quality health care because they are forced onto a lower level of health cover because they have no choice financially. The monopoly of the private health insurance industry in America needs to be broken. Foremost in their minds are profit of the purest kind at the cost of life.
Compare.. Our Australian Medicare System. All Australians are covered..

How many people will lose their jobs? How many will lose their homes? How many will lose their lives?
How many will suffer because of corporate greed?
That's what it is, that's how we got into the state we're in...
corporate greed, government level, business level...
The rich get richer as the poor get poorer..
